Office Communicator 2007 R2 – Unified Communications Application From Microsoft

Office Communicator 2007 R2 helps organizations grow by helping end users be more productive by enabling them to communicate and coordinate work easily with others in different locations or time zones using a range of different communication options, including instant messaging (IM), desktop sharing, voice and video. Integrating the application with programs across the Microsoft Office system gives end users many different ways to communicate directly from the context of their task.

A number of new features have been added as well, that include the ability to add more people to an existing audio-video conferencing session and also to share your desktop in order to discuss, collaborate, or edit documents with a single colleague or with an entire team.

It offers the presence indicator, which is an indication of your availability and status, which is an effective means of communication. It is set automatically based on Outlook 2007 calendar, login status, and other information sources or you can even manually set it from your Office Communicator window. Individual access levels can be set for different contacts. It offers many features such as to start instant messaging, audio or video, invite more people to the conversation switch to voice and video with simple one-click actions.
