How to Get Cloth Napkins Clean?

In early times, only cloth napkins were used almost every meal but now a days most people are using paper napkins because they are disposable and give a fresh look while eating. But many people do not use cloth napkins because they get easily stained due to many causes such as food or drink spills while you are serving.
Stains of wine, lipstick, coffee etc can also occur while handling them. Only fancy restaurants or holiday meals provide these cloth napkins for diners for adding a touch of luxury to the diners meal. However, wash the cloth napkins as soon as possible when they get stained.

Following are some helpful steps for cleaning stained cloth napkins:
  • The cloth which is stained with wine can be treated using table salt. Lay the cloth on the floor and pour the table salt on the complete area of wine stain. Then leave that napkin for few minutes.
  • Then remove the salt which is poured on the cloth and throw it into the dust bin. Then on the reverse side of the napkin, again pour the salt and allow it for few more minutes.
  • Give pretreatment wash for all types of stains on your cloth napkins by filling a bucket with one cup of anti-stain detergent, one cup of cloth detergent and enough water to just cover the cloth napkins. Mix it well and soak the cloth napkins in that solution for overnight.
  • Then the next day, remove the soaked napkins from the bucket and rinse and wash with cool or hot( As specified on the label of the cloth napkin) water with the help of hand or washing machine.
  • Then dry your napkins in the sunlight because the sun works as a natural bleaching agent to remove any trace of stains left on your cloth napkins.
