What are the Home Remedies to Cure Mouth Ulcers?

Mouth ulcers are commonly known as canker sores which can be cured easily with easy home remedies. Usually they appear in single; rarely do they appear in clusters which can feel a burning and more pain inside the mouth.



Following are home remedies that can cure mouth ulcers or canker sores without any side effects.
  • Chewing holy basil leaves is one of the most effective remedies which not only treats mouth ulcers but also prevents bad smell.
  • Gargle with fresh coconut milk at least 3-4 times per day.
  • Gargle with salt and warm water 4-5 times per day.
  • Carry on gargling with cold followed by hot water.
  • Compensate deficiency of vitamin C by drinking orange juice as it may cause canker sores.
  • Eat vegetables that are non-fatty and are healthy.
  • Avoid spicy and hot foods.
  • Make it a habit to eat a banana and curd daily.
  • Pain killers such as ibuprofen help relieve the pain.
  • Apply honey and turmeric paste to the affected area or part which helps to relieve mouth ulcers.
  • Application of peppermint oil also helps to give instant relief from irritation and pain associated with mouth ulcers or canker sores as it acts as an anesthetic agent.
  • Avoid consumption of tea or coffee.
  • Boil some coriander leaves with water and gargle with that boiled water at least 3-4 times a day which relieves from the pain.
  • Swab mouth ulcers with to soothe the pain and also brings relief.
  • Consume yoghurt to cool the sores.
