Teens Experiencing Unfriendly Side of Social Networking Sites

Till now we might have heard that social networking sites like facebook and Twitter are increasing the relations between the people by connecting them across the world by offering a friendly atmosphere. But a latest research revealed an interesting fact about these friendly relations.
According to the study from Pew research center, 88% of the social network users reported that they witnessed cruel behavior on the most popular sites like Facebook and Twitter. About !2% of the teenagers felt that they face such behaviors 'frequently', 29% felt that they experience them 'sometimes'. The survey was conducted among 799 teens between the age group of 12-17.
However, 69% of the teens reported that they have peers who are mostly kind on these social networking sites. Furthermore, the research also revealed that among 95% of all American teens of age group 12-17 using internet, 80% are using social media sites.
The research also said that the 12 and 13 year girls had the most negative assessment of the social media and one third of them said that people of their age are mostly unkind to one another on social network sites, compared to the 9% of the boys of the same age group.
Girls are sensitive to little things and if they are encouraged to do things like this at some or the other point of time, they may feel offended and could take miserable decisions. Another outcome of this behavior is that even though their original personality is not like humiliating others once they start doing like this and continuing the same for longer durations, they get used to such kind of attitudes and try to look at everyone with the same view. Hence, parents need to take enough care about their children especially when they are in teen years.
