Know About Different Types of Drug Testing

Now-a-days drugs are being abused for illegal purposes. Especially they are being consumed for their short term effects, neglecting the long term harmful effects. The long term effects may damage the health of the abuser and in some cases it even leads to the death of the user. To avoid accidents, maintain the health, to find out the right performance in many cases drug testing is done.


Drug testing can be done in many places for different purposes. There are even different methods for drug testing. They are drug test by urine, hair, sweat, blood and even saliva. These tests are being conducted depending upon the type of the drug consumed, quantity of the drug abused and duration after which the drug is consumed.

Apart from the different types of drug testing methods there are even different types of tests which are done at different places for different purposes. The different types of drug testing are:
  • Pre-Employment testing: This test is done whenever a candidate is attending an interview. It became more common just like filling the job application form. Generally it is done for finding out the right candidate for the job. The main aim is to stop the drug abusers to enter into the workplace. Generally urine test is done for this type of testing.
  • Random Drug Testing: This is done for the employees, workers, students, school going children for preventing the drug usage. The main aim of doing this random testing is to prevent or deter the usage of drugs. This is mostly done for large groups of people. In an organization they are used for detecting the persons who are consuming the drugs during the working hours.
  • Post-Incident drug testing: This is done for the employees, students, persons in case of any accident. Suppose an accident occurs during the working hours then the consequences which lead to the accident are being noted by conducting drug test for the workers to avoid accidents in future. Even in the case of accident on the road, police officials test for drug or alcohol abuse.
  • Suspicious testing: This type of testing is done if we suspect any person who is behaving like the drug addict.

These are the different types of testing procedures which are done for different purposes.
