Saliva Drug Testing for Heroin

High school and college students are using this heroin. It is a popular drug for them. 1.3 percent of 8th grade students use this drug in their life, according to the Monitoring the Future study. Especially 10th and 12th students are using this drug. These numbers are alerting day by day. The heroin drug testing is being done at schools, colleges and other places to control the heroin drug abuse.


Generally, heroin drug testing is conducted to detect the presence of heroin in the body. Drug test can be done by various types. According to the convenience, you can use one test among the following.

Urine Drug Test: This is most common method for detection of drug abuse. This test is cost effective when compare to other tests. Cut off values is 300 mg/ml for this drug. Detection period is from 2 to 4 days.

Hair Drug test: This test is not a common method and it is expensive one when compared to urine drug test. It will take long period of time to get the results. Cut off levels are 0.1ng/ml for this drug. It will give positive results when the drug increases the cut off levels of this test in hair and shows negative results if drug is below the cut off level.

Saliva-drug test: Now-a-days, this test has become popular. More recent use of drugs can be detected by this test. It has less cost, but it is more expensive than urine drug test. Cut off level is 40 ng/ml for this drug. Positive results will be given by this test if drug is exceeds the cut off level in saliva, otherwise, it will give negative result. This test gives result within days.
