Know About the Behavioral Symptoms of Drug Addiction

There are many types of drugs to which the drug takers will be abused, these drugs have different physical effects but the symptoms of the addiction are same in all the cases. There are many signs, both physical and behavioral, that indicate drug use. Some of the behavioral symptoms of the drug addiction are given below:
  • Sudden change occurs in the behavior of the drug addicted persons.
  • Many mood swings occur in them, sometimes they are irritable and grumpy and then suddenly happy and bright.
  • Withdrawal from family members.
  • The addicted persons will be careless about personal grooming and other personal activities.
  • Loss of interest in sports, hobbies and other favorite activities
  • The people addicted to drugs will have changed sleeping pattern like waking up at night time and sleeps during the day time.
  • A person is said to be addicted to drugs if person's efforts to cut down on use of the substance have failed.
  • Considerable time and effort are being spent obtaining or using the substance.
  • A person addicted to drugs continues to take the same drug even though some other physical or psychological problem is caused because of the substance.
  • A person addicted to drugs also neglects his responsibilities at school, work, or home .
  • A drug addicted person shows symptoms like taking drugs while driving, using dirty needles, or having unprotected sex.
  • Individuals addicted to drugs never care for relations and fights with the partner or the family members and friends.
The above are the common behavioral symptoms, that a drug addicted individual exhibits. There are other chronic symptoms which are unique to each drug.
