Know About the Common Dental Problems in Kids

Maintenance of oral health in kids is very important and critical. Essential daily dental health routine including proper brushing, brushing after meals, taking healthy foods, and regular dental visits are mandatory to ensure their perfect oral health. However, some common dental problems are seen in kids. Some of them are given here.
Teething is the process where the teeth move and break through the gums. This is seen in kids between the ages of five and seven months. It causes discomfort and irritation in kids. Certain oral problems such as drooling, chewing, and swollen gums may be associated with teething. As the kids like to chew something or the other, there are chances that they chew some filthy or hazardous objects. This may rise the chances of stomach pain and fever. It has to be known that these symptoms are not due to the teething process but due to the accompanying processes or activities. With a continuous appearance of these symptoms for an extended period, one should take the child to a dentist.
Thumb-sucking is the other common dental problem in kids which causes issues such as bite problems, protruding teeth and other infections. In kids between 1 and 2 years of age, the common dental problem is nursing bottle caries also called as baby bottle tooth decay. It is caused when children sleep with bottles of milk or juice in their mouth. White spots are found initially on the teeth which may further turn brown and may eventually lead to tooth destruction. Broken teeth often associated with accidents is also seen in kids. Excessive uptake of sugar filled candies and other products may rise the chances of tooth decay and tooth loss. Premature tooth loss may be seen due to tooth decay or accidents which may even affect the normal growth of the surrounding teeth. With these many dental problems, it is necessary to maintain their oral health by proper dental health routine.
