How to Conserve Energy When Using Household Appliances

Saving energy means saving money in your pocket: Now-a-days for almost every kind of appliance or light fixture, there is an energy efficient alternative for consumers and the power to change their energy use on a large scale. These are some energy conservation tips to save your money through reducing energy costs while using your electric home appliances.
Insulate your ceilings and walls: This can save your home heating costs and also up to 20-30% of your electricity bills. Also it is observed as the most efficient energy saving measure.
Avoid over-heating and over-cooling of your rooms: Set your thermostat according to the seasonal changes and mainly you can reduce your energy consumption only when the temperature of your thermostat is down.
Clean your air filters regularly as recommended: Most of the energy is lost when air conditioners and hot-air furnaces draw air through dirty filters. Cleaning a dirty air conditioner filter will make your air conditioner work smoother and you can also save energy and repair costs. Also maintaining proper ventilation will reduce your cooling costs.
Unplug electronic appliances: Turn off your home electric appliances like fans, television, PC's, refrigerator, washing machines, etc., and especially switch off your lights when you leave the room. Don't open your fridge or freezer door unnecessarily for a longer time. Also don't forget to unplug these, when you are not going to use them.
Wash economically: Use washing machines only when you have a full load of clothes. Always go for buying energy efficient washing appliances to save considerable amounts of water and energy compared to top-loading washers.
